Reading is good, reading well, reading good books. - Bing Xin
P(3,3)-1 Engineering Record No.01 - Prologue#
Background of the Project#
During my university years, I collected a lot of books, but I never had the opportunity to digest and absorb them. Due to procrastination, my plans were often delayed, and the goals I set were frequently abandoned. After starting to read, because I was merely "reading" the books, the process of reading and thinking was not deep enough. After finishing the first book, there was no valuable output.
Significance of the Project - Reading is Good#
The significance of reading is self-evident, just one word: good. Basically, reading is a process of extracting information, processing it, and thinking and digesting it through articles and books. Through reading, we will build our own knowledge network in our minds.
Purpose of the Project - Reading Well#
Through this project, the first goal is to develop the habit of reading and writing blog posts. The second goal is to complete the complete process of "input -> processing -> output". It is important to consistently achieve the daily reading target, while making annotations to facilitate thinking and information processing after completing the reading, and finally summarizing and outputting through a blog.
Feasibility of the Project - Reading Good Books#
The feasibility of the project is self-evident. The books for reading are all in Chinese, although they have been translated by someone else, the essence of the information extracted from them has not changed. Although there are many books in the library, as long as the daily goals are consistently achieved, the inventory will only decrease. Finally, the daily tasks will become a habit, thereby transforming this project into a general reading plan.
Design of the Project - Reading Good Books#
Although reading is good, if the books you read are not worth the time spent, it is no different from wasting time. The books in the library are basically classic books from various fields, some of which are even textbooks from well-known universities, so they should be good books.
Implementation of the Project - Reading Books Well#
Finding good books and being able to read them with maximum efficiency is the best. Regarding the viewpoint of "input -> processing -> output", Liu Weipeng's [BetterExplained] Why You Should (Start) Blogging Now provides a specific analysis. (By the way, the other articles by Liu Weipeng are also very well-written, and it often takes a day to contemplate the viewpoints in one article.) To complete this chain, my current approach is:
- Input:
- Set a reading target of 25 minutes using Apple Books and make annotations of important sentences while reading.
- Take a 5-minute break and reflect on the reading just now, what the book talked about, and grasp the key points.
- Processing:
- Reread for 25 minutes using MarginNote 3, focusing on the annotations made in Apple Books, organize the information, and build a mind map.
- Take a 5-minute break and reflect on the mind map just organized, and see if the main points of the book can be clarified from it.
I compare this constructed reading process to a simplified transaction. All of the above operations can be repeated multiple rounds as long as there is enough time, but in one round, either complete all of them or don't do them at all. When repeating this operation, as long as a book is finished, it is the output:
- Output:
The mind map organized using MarginNote 3 is summarized and outputted in the form of a blog.
Finally#
$P(3,3)-1$ means the arrangement of the three characters "reading," "book," and "good" minus one arrangement that does not make sense, "good book reading." I hope this somewhat pretentious project name can bring me a sense of fun and mission when executing the project :)Confirmed as a pretentious teenager. I hope I can write like this. It would be embarrassing if I procrastinated again in the next formal book review.
